Neil Patrick Harris Movie 8-Bit Christmas Starts Production

Production has begun on a new video game movie starring Neil Patrick Harris. The movie, 8-Bit Christmas, takes place in suburban Chicago in the 1980s, with a story that focuses on a 10-year-old boy’s epic quest to get the best video game system for Christmas.

The movie is being produced by New Line for HBO Max. Parent company Warner Bros. says the film will offer a “humorous and heartfelt look back at the adventures of childhood.”

There were a lot of popular home game consoles in the ’80s, like the Intellivision, ColecoVision, the NES, and several systems from Atari, but whether or not any of these will appear in the movie remains to be seen.

A new group of games is coming to PlayStation Plus’ Extra and Premium tiers from Tuesday November 21. One new title is already available, and it’s a day-one drop for PlayStation Plus: Teardown, a demolition heist game which is available to Extra and Premium subscribers from November 15.

As part of the 25th anniversary celebrations for the Pokemon series, a new music album is on the way with the some big-name artists. Pokemon 25: The Album is launching October 15 from Capitol Records and Universal Music Group, featuring songs by Katy Perry, Lil Yachty, J Balvin, and Cyn. The real-world trucking company Schneider National is paying for ads in American Truck Simulator to try to convince people to come work for them.

SCS Software, the developers of American Truck Simulator, said in a blog post (via GamesRadar) that the billboards in the game are now advertising Schneider National and directing players to the company’s careers website.
