Manchester United have finalized the signing of Lisandro Martinez from Ajax.
Since Erik ten Hag was appointed the new manager of Manchester United, the club have been linked with a number of players from his former club Ajax. This is not without reason however as
it has just been confirmed that United have signed Ajax's Lisandro Martinez.
Martinez rejected the approach that Arsenal made for him because of his desire to join the Red Devils, play at Old Trafford and reunite with Erik ten Hag.
United have agreed a €55 million fee with Ajax for Lisandro Martinez on a 5-year deal, who played under Ten Hag for 3 years before he became Manchester United manager in May.
The Argentinian international has enjoyed a stellar season, winning the Eredivisie title, a trophy that Martínez played a major part in winning while being named Ajax's Player of the Season.
He has incredible versatility, can operate in a central or left-back role and also has the ability to play in a pivot midfield, alongside a more attacking-minded midfielder, like Frenkie de Jong.
Ten Hag was also complimentary of Martinez's attributes:
"He is an example of what my statement about more than eleven basic players is based on.
He can play left-back, left central defender and left controlling midfielder."
"He has good technique, overview on the ball, duelling power, but he has less walking ability, for example."
Welcome to Manchester, Lisandro!
