Erik Ten Hag's Transfer Targets :

Manchester United are undoubtedly a club in dire need of a rebuild, and these are the main players on Erik Ten Hag's radar.

1. Jurrien Timber

A player that Manchester United are already close to signing, and it is clear to see why. Timber really is an all-action modern day centre-back with wonderful speed and agility, complemented by his innate intelligence to play the Ajax way. He's really comfortable in possession, and has great physicality to match. However he is an unkown entity withing the Premier League, so it will be interesting to see how he copes with the transition, especially after seeing Raphael Varane's tumultuous opening campaign in England. He was one of the first names recommended by Ten Hag upon his arrival, and Ajax's asking price being around 30M£, has allowed this deal to advance rapidly.

2. Antony

Erik ten Hag wants Manchester United to pursue Antony as their priority winger target, and convinced the club to prioritize him over the long-term target, Ousmane Dembele, who Manchester United were very close to signing in the summer of 2020. Informal discussions have been held with his entourage, via intermediaries, and the player has expressed a willingness to join. Antony is certainly a player who would get the Old Trafford faithful off their feet, with his tantalizing footwork, incredible close control, and all-round flair, complemented with a punch if pace. Again, he is an unknown entity, and their are question marks to do with regards to his stature, and whether he can cope with the English game, but, I am fairly certain Antony would be a smart addition to this Manchester United squad, and it is already plausible to see him as a potential fan favourite.

3. Darwin Nunez

An absolute machine of a striker, Darwin Nunez is certainly one of the best-attacking talents in world football, and it is widely known that he will be leaving Benfica in the summer. He's a real throwback number 9, with impeccable hold-up play, and an industrious work ethic, which is complemented by his composure in front of goal. However his first touch and close control has sometimes left a lot to be desired, and questionable link-up play leaves question marks as to whether he can fully adapt his game to the modern and highest level of football. Many clubs are interested, and Manchester United are 'desperate' to convince the player to join, as Erik Ten Hag has made Nunez his number one choice in the striker department. No Champions League makes a deal difficult, but let's see what Nunez decides. The club knows signing the player will be very tough, so alternative options have been considered. Johnathan David is also very well appreciated at Manchester United.

4. Frenkie De Jong

An absolute Rolls-Royce midfielder, Frenkie De Jong is the complete package as a central midfielder. He's got superb vision, wonderful passing, great agility and tenacity in the tackle, and can show the occasional bit of flare to get himself out of tight and tricky situations. Manchester United have already initiated contact with the player’s camp and Barcelona. He’s considered ‘untouchable’ by Xavi, but Barcelona will listen to offers above 70M€ due to their own financial turmoil. There's a belief a deal can be done, but there is still a long way to go, with PSG, Bayern and Manchester City also interested. Champions League is a priority for Frenkie, so Erik Ten Hag will have to use all his charisma and charm to lure De Jong to the Theatre of Dreams.

5. Pau Torres

A classy, well-organized and traditional European centre-back. Pau Torres is one of the most sought-after defenders in Europe currently, with both Manchester clubs set to battle it out in the summer for his signature. Erik Ten Hag seriously appreciates Torres' calmness and composure, and Manchester United are seriously considering bidding for him. He may lack the brute strength to out-muscle certain attackers, but what he may lack in strength, he certainly makes up for with his incredible football IQ.

6. Ruben Neves

An enigmatic, technically impeccable, and all-round underrated superstar. Ruben Neves is Premier League proven, and has an incredible strike on him, as a well as a not too hefty price tag, as it seems Wolves are resigned to him leaving this summer. He is not great defensively, especially in the tackle, but he has got great positional awareness, and would certainly suit Ten Hag's system. He is a player high on Ten Hag's list, and he’s been heavily scouted as per the Dutchman’s request, after Ten Hag was not too keen on Kalvin Phillips, and despite a deal for De Jong being the priority for the midfield, there is a still a genuine possibility that a deal could be done.
