Today, a group fans went to protest outside Richard Arnold’s house, however he very politely met up with them in the pub and had a nice conversation with them.
So what did the conversation consist of? Below are some quotes:
Arnold: "What's happened is we've f*cking burnt through cash. You can't go to to our training ground and say 'by the way, show me where that £1 billion is here'. I don't think we've done well with the money we've spent."
Arnold: "I'm not here to defend Joel [Glazer] himself, you [protesting fans] must speak to him yourself. You've come here to make your views known and I respect that."
Arnold: "We've blown through an enormous amount of money. For this summer, the money that the manager and Director of Football wants is there."
Arnold: "For the future, for investing in a new stadium, to do a latest and greatest £250 million training ground, we've got to do something. We've got to get investors in.”
Arnold: "For the future, for investing in a new stadium, to do a latest and greatest £250 million training ground, we've got to do something. We've got to get investors in."
Arnold: "I need that to do what I want for the club, I've got to have more cash than we do now."
Arnold: "The money [for structural improvements] has to come from somewhere. You may not like our current owners, okay, I can't help that."
CEO Richard Arnold when asked about Frenkie de Jong: "Money is not a consideration with who we want."
Arnold: "It's if the manager wants him [Frenkie de Jong], that they've actually done the work on looking at if he's a great player
Arnold: "Do you want me buying the players? Doesn't that ring a bell?"
Arnold: "If you want someone else [new owners] to come in, they have to go 'look, the fans love the club, love the team, it's positive'."
Arnold: "Look, last year was a f*cking nightmare, it was a nightmare."
Additionally, Arnold has told them that Manchester United do not have a fixed budget this year and they will spend it on the players Ten Hag needs. Although the words spoken from Arnold can give fans confidence, actions speak louder and we must see if what has been said will be done in due course.
