The Transfer Window has finally opened on Friday the 10th of June, and after months of speculation about potential transfers, its time to take a look at what next season's XI could look like:
Erik the Hag's teams are very versatile and the formation changes in-game in attack and defence, but on-paper it's speculated to be a 4-2-3-1.
Probably the only position, together with the centre forward, we have a clear answer to who will fill in, David de Gea will definitely be the first choice GK next season.
David might not have the same distribution attributes as Ederson and Allison, but his shot-stopping is still top class and with the right team tactics and coaching, he will surely be able to improve where he's lacking.
Diogo Dalot is reportedly firmly in Ten Hag’s plans ahead of next season and has been made unavailable for transfer amid interest from Atletico Madrid. And with Arron Wan-Bissaka potentially leaving the club, the RB spot is in Diogo's hands. As for the LB, Tyrell Malacia is a target for the Club and the interest is definitely there which means that there are big chances that Alex Telles will be sold. If that will be the case then Malacia might start over Luke Shaw after the Englishman's average season.
Another position that is easy to predict, but will definitely be rotated a lot, Raphael Varane is arguably United's best Defender when available which guarantees his inclusion. Jurrien Timber is Erik ten Hag's number 1 target for the CB position and with his arrival very possible, he is preferred to start over Harry Maguire who has had another disappointing season and is being called the biggest flop in United's history by the fans and Victor Lindelof who is only a rotational squad player.
Frenkie de Jong, who is the manager's top priority signing this summer, is very close to becoming a Red Devil after the player has been convinced to join. All that remains is agreeing on a fee with Barcelona who are under financial pressure. After the transfer will be completed we can expect Frankie to be one of the pivot midfielders and maybe even the team's most important player.
The player who will partner him is none other than his former Ajax midfield partner Donny van de Beek. Donny is set to return to the Club after his loan spell at Everton and is keen to show why he was regarded as a top player before coming to United and being downgraded to a bench player under former coach Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.
The Centre Attacking Midfielder position will be occupied by none other than Bruno Fernandes. Even though he has had an average last season, he has shown that he was United's best player, until Cristiano returned to the club, by winning the Club's Player Of The Year award in his first two years at the club and also breaking the record for most goals scored in a single season by a midfielder, twice.
Jadon Sancho joined last summer for €85 million and even though he has produced some good performances, especially in the latter stages of the season, he has only had 8 goal contributions which is very disappointing for a player of his status. United fans are not worried though, for it is known that players need time to settle in and especially in a struggling team.
Even though he has had an average season, he has still managed to become first-choice left-winger.
Antony is a player who is looking like a very likely signing. Erik ten Hag is in love with him and believes he will become a top player. The fee in question would be €50-€60 million and it shouldn't be a problem considering the good relationship between United and Ajax. The Club currently doesn't have any natural right-winger at the club except Amad Diallo who is expected to go back on loan next season, so Antony would surely become first choice RW.
Cristiano Ronaldo returned to the club after leaving in 2009 to join Real Madrid and even though he is 37 years old he has shown that age is just a number for him. A number that is close to the trophies and Ballon d'Or awards he has won in his legendary career. Even though the team has struggled this year he still managed to have 27 goal contributions in 37 games and finished 3rd in the Golden Boot race. This is what Ten Hag has said about Cristiano:
"He’s a true winner and a magnificent player. I can’t wait to work with him.”
Cristiano Ronaldo will be United's CF next season.
