Manchester United’s Pre-Season: Everything You Need To Know

Manchester United kicked off their preseason on 27th of June but it was majorly for players who had no international duties at the end of 2021/22 season and the Under-21s. It was an intense week for the players as it had to do with a lot of running with and without the ball. Reports coming out of Carrington say that Erik Ten Hag has the players working on their minds and getting them to understand what to do when in possession of the ball. This news has been warmly welcomed by the fans as they’ve moaned over the years of the team’s inability to break down teams that defend in low blocks.

The rest of the team is scheduled to join on the 4th of July where intense work to regain match fitness awaits them. The team will fly out to Thailand in what is the first time visit since 2013 and will face English giants and bitter rivals Liverpool on 12th July in the pre-season opener at the Rajamangala Stadium at the capital.

Next on the schedule is a trip to Australia which will see them play at the very famous Melbourne Cricket Ground which houses 100,000 fans. A fixture against A-League team Melbourne Victory on 15th July and Premier league club Crystal Palace on the 19 July awaits the Reds.

Whilst still in Australia, United will take on Aston Villa in Perth in a familiar ground at the Optus Stadium which was home to two victories while on tour in 2019.

A trip to the home country of former player and manager Ole Gunnar Solksjaer is next as United will visit Norway for the first time since 2019. They play Spanish giants Atletico Madrid at the Ullevaal Stadium in Oslo on 30th July exactly three years since they beat Kristiansund at the same venue.

And in the final game of pre-season and the first home game under Erik Ten Hag, United face another Spanish side in Real Vallecano at old Trafford on Sunday 31st July.

This is the busiest pre-season at Manchester United since 2019 as we seek to be in best possible shape ahead of 2022/23 season under Erik Ten Hag.
