A synopsis of how well positioned Manchester United are to sign their transfer targets, and what positions they want to prioritise.
Manchester United’s priority positions for the summer transfer market are:
Antony is a player that Erik Ten Hag loves, and after Manchester United initiated contacts with his entourage a few weeks ago via intermediaries, talks have developed in an extremely positively manner ever since. Antony finds being able to play for Erik Ten Hag again, at the Theatre of Dreams, a tantalising proposal. An agreement on on personal terms, bonuses, contractual details and agent fees aren’t deemed to be an issue, and Manchester United’s and Ajax’s healthy relationship, means there is a healthy chance a deal can be agreed. There’s nothing imminent, but Manchester United have enquired as to what fee Ajax want for the tricky and talented winger.
Jurrien Timber is close to joining Manchester United. A verbal agreement on terms, and agent fees has been reached, and Manchester United are in advanced negotiations with Ajax regarding a fee. Manchester United know the fee that Ajax want, but they're working on ways to structure the deal, using performance-related bonuses and installments before the total agreement can be reached. So no 'finito' yet, but I do sense that this deal could be wrapped up fairly soon.
Darwin Nunez is a player Manchester United are 'seriously' interested in, and he is the priority striker target. Manchester United are currently working on convincing Darwin about the project, before they can discuss personal terms. Manchester United do believe they have the financials to tempt the player, but Champions League is of great significance to him, so Erik ten hag is working 'overtime' to convince the player of the long-term project. Many top European clubs will be happy to pay his 70M£ price tag, so it's down to Darwin to decide what project appeals to him the most. If a deal proves to be impossible, Johnathan David is a name that is seriously well-liked and appreciated at United, and Tammy Abraham's name has also been discussed internally.
Frenkie De Jong is Manchester United's priority midfielder target, and the club is continuing discussions with Barcelona to see if a fee can be agreed. Erik Ten Hag is maintaining consistent dialogue with the Dutchman to attempt to convince Frenkie to join, as the player is really happy at Barcelona, and Xavi really wants to keep him. Frenkie has communicated his desire to stay to the Barcelona board, so it’s depends on whether Barcelona want to sell him. It is a difficult deal to do, but Manchester United are really pushing to find solutions to sign the player, and if Barcelona want to sign Lewandowski and Raphinha, they need to sell.
Youri Tielemans and Ruben Neves are also being considered, but nothing is currently advanced on either front. They would likely be alternatives if the De Jong deal is perceived not possible.
Pau Torres is not advanced like some reports suggest. There is an interest, but no serious discussions have taken place yet. Manchester City and Spurs also interested.
Links to Milinkovic-Savic are false. Manchester United have no interest in the player, and this story is being generated by the player's camp.
