OPERATION "SQUAD CLEAR-OUT". OUTGOINGS SUMMER 2022

With this year's disastrous season coming to an end, its time to look at the players who are likely to depart from Manchester United this summer.

DEAN HENDERSON:

Having joined the Reds as a 14-year-old, the now 25 year old has made 29 appearances for the club, and is set to depart this summer to look for game time at another club. He has proved his qualities at Premier League level having had a good 19/20 season at Sheffield United and winning their Young Player of the Season award. The club who is most likely to acquire his services this summer is Newcastle United but it remains to be seen If it will be a loan or a permanent transfer.

LEE GRANT:

Not much to be said about this player. The third signing of the 2018 summer transfer window when he arrived from Stoke City, Lee Grant has only made 2 appearances for the club and is set to depart with his contact expiring.

ERIC BAILLY:

Having been at the club since 2016, Eric has never achieved the potential that ,then manager, Jose Mourinho, thought he would. Having been assured that he would get enough game time this season before signing a new contract last year, he has only made 7 appearances. He would probably benefit from a change of scenery with La Liga being the most likely destination.

PHIL JONES:

The longest serving active player, second only to David de Gea, Phil Jones has never really been the star that Sir Alex Ferguson thought he would be. His career has been torn by injuries and after 11 years at the club it is time for the veteran defender to finally say goodbye.

AARON WAN-BISSAKA:

The full back joined United back in 2019 and has already make 126 appearances while playing as the first choice RB. With him not being suited to the new manager's system, and being described by many fans as a flop, Aaron could be the full back that departs this summer to make room for a new player to come and fill in that RB position.

PAUL POGBA:

The Talented midfielder re-joined the Red Devils In 2016 after leaving the club for free and joining Juventus. After four successful years in Turin, United bought him back for a record breaking fee of £89 million. But now after six years at United, Paul will leave the club for free again and possibly rejoin his old club or move to PSG.

JUAN MATA:

Manchester United bought Juan Mata from Chelsea in 2014 for £40 million after being named the club's best player in two consecutive seasons. At United though, the player hasn't performed like he did at his previous club, being played out of position most of the time and after a couple of years being degraded to a bench player. This summer his contract is up and the player looks likely to go back and play in his home country, Spain.

JESSE LINGARD:

Having joined United when he was still just a kid, Jesse Lingard has been at the club for a very long time. He has made his debut in 2014 but since then he has never established himself as a first team player but rather as a squad player. Having scored two cup winning goals for the club, he looks certain to leave this summer when his contract expires.

NEMANJA MATIC:

Having played under him at Chelsea, Jose Mourinho was eager to bring in the Serbian at United in 2017. The central defensive midfielder is one of the Portuguese's favourite ex players and a catalyst in his old Chelsea side. He joined the club when he was 29 years old, has made 189 appearances and now look set to depart this summer with his contract expiring.

EDINSON CAVANI:

One of the most prolific strikers in European football during the 21st century, the Uruguayan forward has a rich goalscoring pedigree. He joined the club in 2020 and instantly became a fan favourite. This season ,though, he has been sidelined for many games with injuries and will be another player leaving the club with his contract expiring.

These are 10 players that look very likely to depart Manchester United this summer, which will make Erik ten Hag's mission of rebuilding the club much easier and give him more funds to spend and bring in his desired players.
